Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IEDC)

The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IEDC) is being promoted in educational institutions to develop institutional mechanism to create entrepreneurial culture in academic institutions and to foster techno-entrepreneurship for generation of wealth and employment.

Objectives of the IEDC

  • To act as an institutional mechanism for providing information on all aspects of enterprise building to budding entrepreneurs.
  • To create Entrepreneurial culture in the Parent Institution and other institutions in the region.
  • To catalyze and promote development of knowledge-based enterprises and promote employment opportunities in the innovative areas.
  • To respond effectively to the emerging challenges and opportunities both at national and international level relating to SMEs and micro enterprises.
  • To guide and assist prospective entrepreneurs on various aspects such as preparing project reports, obtaining project approvals, loans and facilities from agencies of support system, information on technologies.

An Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IEDC) has been functioning in our institution since 5th of august 2016. The center acts as a catalyst to generate innovative ideas from the students of this institution. The IEDC constantly organizes many programmes in collaboration with other technical institutions and industries to promote innovation and entrepreneurial skills in students. Members of IEDC has participated in a variety of programs held in other institutions and has won many prizes.

The present coordinator of IEDC at GPC Kasaragod is Sri. Prashanth N., Tradesman in Mechanical Engineering.
